About Course
The Odisha Teacher Eligibility Test (OTET) Paper II syllabus is for candidates intending to teach Classes VI to VIII.

Duration: 2.5 hours (150 minutes) per paper.
Total Marks: 150 Marks per paper.
Question Type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Marking: +1 for correct answers, no negative marking.
Paper-II Syllabus (Classes VI to VIII)
1. Child Development & Pedagogy (30 Marks)
Focus: Psychology of upper primary school children (pre-adolescence and adolescence).
Topics: Strategies for promoting learning, addressing learners from diverse backgrounds, curriculum organization, and assessment tools (rating scales, checklists, rubrics).
2. Language-I (Odia/Urdu/Hindi/Telugu/Bengali) (30 Marks)
Similar structure to Paper-I but with a higher difficulty level (Upper Primary standard). Includes detailed grammar, composition, and study of famous literates/writers in the respective language.
3. Language-II (English) (30 Marks)
Pedagogy: Learning English at the upper primary level, teaching prose/poetry/composition.
Content: Grammar (Voice change, Narrations, Tense forms, Clauses), Vocabulary, and Comprehension of literary/scientific passages.
4. Optional Subject (60 Marks)
Candidates must choose one of the following:
A. Mathematics & Science (For Math/Science Teachers)
Mathematics (30 Marks):
Number System, Algebra (Polynomials, Linear equations), Commercial Arithmetic (Ratio, Proportion, Profit/Loss, Interest), Geometry (Lines, Angles, Triangles, Symmetry), Menstruation, Statistics.
Science (30 Marks):
Physics: Motion, Force, Sound, Light, Electricity, Magnetism.
Chemistry: Matter (States, Separation of substances), Metal & Non-metals, Atoms & Molecules, Chemical Reactions.
Biology: Cell structure, Micro-organisms, Nutrition in plants/animals, Respiration, Transportation in animals/plants.
B. Social Studies (For Social Science Teachers)
History (20 Marks): Earliest societies, First Cities, Ashoka, Sultanate of Delhi, Mughal Empire, British Power, Freedom Movement.
Political Science (20 Marks): Diversity, Government, Democracy, State Government, Constitution, Parliamentary Government, Judiciary, Social Justice.
Geography (20 Marks): Earth (Solar system, Globe, Latitudes/Longitudes), Environment (Air, Water, Human Environment), Agriculture, Resources, Geography of Odisha.
